Essay #3

Due Thursday, April 10

In an essay (not a research paper) of about 3 pages (1.5 spacing), together with about two or three references (at least one of which must be originally on paper) give me a brief discussion of geometry (and only geometry) from Mesopotamia and Egypt to Euclid with a primary focus on Thales and Euclid.  What I am looking for in this essay is a discussion  of how geometry was changed in Greece through the work of Thales and Euclid into the subject we learned in high school geometry classes.  Please incorporate what we have discussed in the class into your essay.

The final essay (yet to be set) will be on non-Euclidean geometry.  Details to come later.
