Disclaimer: I have attempted to be comprehensive in the following, but important items may have been omitted by mistake. If you see such an omission, please let me know, but you are responsible for all of the lecture material to date.

The third hour exam for Honors 213 will be held on Monday, March 27, and will cover chapter 3 (beginning with congruence axioms and running through the material on continuity - treating continuity lightly) and the essay by G. H. Hardy. I will provide a sheet with postulates, axioms, and logic rules (but not definitions).

• Definitions:
  • Be able to define the terms that appear in chapters 3 (formal definitions).
• Proofs
  • Be able to construct proofs for fairly straightforward statements (i.e., there are some of the homework problems that I will not give you on an exam). Be able to justify the steps in a proof. A review of homework problems would be the best review for this part.
• Philosophical musings
  • We have now developed Hilbert's axioms for geometry. In what ways does Hilbert's approach differ from Euclid's?
