Computer Science 455 Final Exam Review Disclaimer: I have attempted to be comprehensive in the following, but important items may have been omitted by mistake. If you see such an omission, please let me know, but you are responsible for all of the lecture material to date. The final exam will be on Friday, May 15, 8:00 AM In reviewing for the final, please look over the previous exam reviews (including material to be tested on a later date), previous exams, all reading, and homework. The slides for the final lectures are on reserve. The final exam will be comprehensive. About half of the exam is taken up with query language (SQL, Algebra, Calculus). In addition to the items already mentioned in earlier exam reviews, please 1. Be able to write queries in the (tuple) relational calculus. 2. Be able to discuss the relational model, and what it means to be relationally complete and fully relational. 3. Be able to describe how to work with SQL*Menu 4. Be able to describe the object-oriented approach to database management systems, what problems with the relational model this approach might solve, and what advantages there may be to this model. That's it! Good luck! -Bob
