Final Presentations
Spring 2022
Description
Your final project presentation will take place on April 30th, as part of Math/CS Day. The campus community is invited to attend and, at a minimum, you can expect other CS faculty and students to be there for Math/CS day. Math faculty and students have typically attended as well, as have a smattering of parents and other interested parties in the past. Each team will be given 20 minutes for their presentation + 5min Q&A. Your final presentation should include:
- Background: What is your project about, why is it interesting, and who does it help? Try to make this accessible to a wide audience if possible.
- Overview of Deliverable: Outline what your project does, and give an overview of the major components involved in the implemenation. (If you're doing a research study, explain your methodology and what you learned.)
- Demo: If possible, do a live demo of your project, showing off the important and interesting features. (If a demo doesn't make sense in your case, please use lots of visuals in explaining your project.)
- Challenges: What were some road-blocks you ran into? Describe any difficult design decisions you had to make over the course of your capstone, or revisions of your timeline.
- Reflection: What are some things you would do differently in hindsight? What were your favorite and least favorite things about this project? What did you learn about SW and CS, but also about group dynamics, real-world projects, etc?
As with check-ins, every team member must be involved in the presentation. Please practice these presentations multiple times before the run-throughs in the week leading up to Math/CS day, and incorporate any feedback you get for the final presentation. You've all put a lot of time and effort into your projects, and it will be satisfying to present them well to an audience.
